Loss of Libido at Menopause

During menopause which is the final stage in the cycle of female menstruation, women lose their interest in sex and therefore she does not have the sexual drive and desire. Throughout the menstrual cycle, the female libido completely changes. The libido during the mid-cycle and the premenstrual period is at its peak, and the sensations vary from time to time. The two hormones that help to gear up the sexual desire in women are estrogen and testosterone. The sex hormone associated with men is known as the testosterone. However testosterone is also produced by women too in the ovaries and the adrenal glands. The period before menopause is known as the perimenopause period when some loss of libido occurs and a deficiency in hormones creates problems like lack of energy and depression.

Vaginal dryness and discomfort can force women to avoid having sex altogether. Creams and gels are used to combat this problem. The emotional changes related with menopause can also affect sexual desires, as women often feel angry, irritable, and sometimes depressed.

There are various ways to restore libido like hormone therapy, gels, creams and prescribed medications.  The best way to increase sexual desire and low libido is by taking herbal female libido enhancing supplements which help a woman get back her sexual desire and energy in a natural and safe way to enjoy a healthy sex life.
